I work for a small software development company called Univa UD, which produces a commercial enterprise software management solution for turning existing corporate computers into a supercomputer with distributed computing. Our Grid MP software allows scheduling, prioritization, and fail-over execution of computational jobs in order to allow maximum flexibility.

I have some photos in my gallery about Univa UD, which also includes links to some of my cow-orkers galleries.

[edit] History

The company started in 1999 under the name "Ethergent". In late 1999 it changed its name to "United Devices". I joined in late 2000.

From 2001 until 2007, United Devices also operated a community grid (called "grid.org") that allowed ordinary Internet-connected Windows desktop computers to work on scientific projects that can benefit human society as a whole. Some of the projects that have run on grid.org included searching for better potential cures to cancer, anthrax, and smallpox.

In August 2005, it acquired the French company "GridXpert" and its product "Synergy".

In September 2007, United Devices merged with "Univa" and renamed the combined entity to be "Univa UD".
