Cows

Cows are pretty cool! They're among one of the most versatile domesticated animals around today. Humans use their meat for food, their milk for drink, their skin for leather, their waste for fertilizer, and even their methane for fuel. Many people throughout the world also use cattle and oxen for their strength to help plow their fields. Some people hate its versatility, but that should instead be seen as one of its strengths.

Although the use of the word "cow" sometimes refers only to the female of the species (and "bull" to the male), it is also commonly used as a gender-neutral term regardless of sex or age.

Some people ask why I like cows, but perhaps you should ask yourself why you shouldn't like them? After all, they are generally quite peaceful and contented with their simple life, with few concerns about the world around them. Maybe the world would be a more peaceful place if more people tried adopting a similar mind-set of reduced aggression and took a more limited role in the foreign affairs of others.

Gary Larson, in The Prehistory of the Far Side writes: "Cows, as some Far Side readers know, are a favorite subject of mine. I've always found them to be the quintessentially absurd animal for situations even more absurd. Even the name 'cow,' to me, is intrinsically funny."

I have a small collection of various pictures of cows that I've collected from around the web and other places.
